Day 1 | From Cuiabá to Porto Jofre – Crossing the Transpantaneira

Our meeting point will be at the airport or hotel in Cuiabá (CGB), where the Be North Safaris team will be ready to start your journey to the heart of the Pantanal.

We then travel approximately 100 km to Poconé and begin the crossing of the iconic Transpantaneira — a dirt road with over 120 bridges and a natural spectacle of biodiversity. Along the 150 km to Porto Jofre, strategic stops will be made for bird, reptile, and typical Pantanal mammal observation and photography.

Arrival at the Barco Hotel, on the banks of the Rio Cuiabá, is scheduled for late afternoon. Here we will enjoy a welcome dinner and an overview of the itinerary for the following days.

Days 2, 3 & 4 | River Safaris – In Search of the Jaguar

The days start early at sunrise with a hearty breakfast, followed by departure for river safaris.

We navigate aboard fast and comfortable boats, exploring the Encontro das Águas State Park, internationally recognized as the best place in the world to observe jaguars in their natural habitat.

The boats are equipped with radio communication among guides, led by expert trackers, ensuring safety, accuracy, and increased chances of wildlife sightings.

During these three intense days, we will navigate the rivers:

• Cuiabá

• Três Irmãos

• Piquiri

• São Lourenço

Jaguars are the main highlight of the expedition, but it is also common to observe:

• Giant otters • Tapirs • Alligators • Howler monkeys • Capybaras • Anacondas

• Waterfowl and birds of prey

Excursions last all day, with a break at midday for lunch and rest at the Barco Hotel. Schedules may adjust depending on weather and wildlife sightings.

Day 5 | Return to Cuiabá

After breakfast and a final moment along the banks of the Rio Cuiabá, we begin the return journey to the city of Cuiabá. Arrival is expected around 2:00 PM.

This marks the end of a remarkable journey — rich in wildlife encounters and unforgettable moments with the largest feline in the Americas in its natural territory.
