About the Experience

This itinerary is designed for travelers who want to experience the best of Pantanal wildlife on a comprehensive expedition through the three most iconic environments of the Northern Pantanal. Over 8 days, you will explore open fields, forests, bays, rivers, and flooded areas that are home to the famous Pantanal Big Five, as well as dozens of birds, mammals, and reptiles that make up this unique ecosystem.

The journey combines land safaris, river safaris, guided walks, and activities led by Be North Safaris’ bilingual specialists, providing the best opportunities for wildlife sightings and photography at strategic times. The immersion takes place across three complementary regions: Piuval, Pouso Alegre, and Porto Jofre, creating an ideal route for those seeking abundant wildlife.

Accommodations

Pousada Piuval
Located on a 7,000+ hectare property, Piuval is renowned for its open fields, bays, and extensive forested areas—classic habitat for giant anteaters, marsh deer, macaws, and rheas. The lodge offers fully equipped rooms, air conditioning, common areas, and extensive infrastructure for safaris and horseback riding.

Pousada Pouso Alegre
Situated amid 10,000 hectares of preserved nature, Pouso Alegre is one of the best locations in the Pantanal for land-based wildlife viewing: tapirs, peccaries, anteaters, tayras, and one of the highest concentrations of birds in the region. The rooms are comfortable, with a rustic Pantanal atmosphere, and meals are homemade.

Porto Jofre
Lodging on the banks of the Cuiabá River, the central hub for jaguar observation in the Pantanal. The property features air-conditioned rooms, a restaurant, a private pier, and immediate access to river safaris exploring the Encontro das Águas—the area with the highest jaguar density on the planet.
